Academic Supervisor - ESL (English as a Second Language)

We are looking for a high-caliber ESL head with relevant qualifications to support the School and the Vice-Principal to drive the growth of our ESL team. The successful candidate will be part of the team to provide strategic leadership for continuous improvement and development of the School.


Role Objective

  • Be a strategic partner with the School and work together with the Vice-Principal to drive the growth of our ESL team; 
  • Provide positive feedback and to drive the team’s performance;
  • Manage the course content and teaching materials to ensure it is abreast of international tests and syllabus development;
  • Facilitate smooth communication between team and other departments within a multicultural environment.


Job Responsibilities


Teaching roles:

  • Deliver student-centered, high-quality teaching to students according to educational needs and abilities based on lesson plans and syllabi;


Non-teaching roles:

  • Drive the development of the ESL School by understanding the demand of different customer groups to customize the courses to provide the best for students;
  • Prepare yearly development plan for the ESL team within the department;
  • Monitor the development of teaching materials such as course notes and publications, etc;
  • Track relevant changes to syllabus and standardized tests, and ensure teachers stay up-to-date with the most effective approaches to teaching students;
  • Communicate between management and teachers in order to ensure all classroom policies and goals are met.

What we want
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in English or equivalent, plus CELTA / Trinity TESOL / TEFL / TESL or related certifications will be an advantage;
  • Minimum 5 years’ ESL or General English teaching experience;
  • Sound knowledge and credentials in international tests and syllabi such as IELTS / TOEFL / SSAT;
  • Good command in Mandarin will be an advantage;
  • Commitment to student learning and well-being;
  • Strong leadership skills with enthusiasm to motivate the team and encourage teamwork;
  • Positive can-do approach to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
