British Council is recruiting a Deputy Academic Manager (Advanced Teacher) in Bangkok.

 

Role Purpose

•    To promote and deliver quality teaching and effective learning of English;
•    To support and guide instructors on the delivery of a full range of courses, and to lead and develop instructors, including the provision of performance management, training and development;
•    To contribute to the development, evaluation and improvement of courses, materials and related services at partner schools and universities;
•    To support the wider aims of the British Council and its cultural relations mission.

• Delivering teaching and course content that is of the highest standard.
• Enhancing the British Council’s reputation as a world authority in ELT.
• Continuing professional development and sharing of best practice.
 

Main Responsibilities

• Ensuring teaching meets learners’ needs and expectations.

• Ensuring teaching meets Teaching Quality Standards and organisational expectations.

• Maintaining good relationships with customers and colleagues.

• Supporting teaching centre / partner school activities and British Council plans.

 

Main Duties

• Contribute to the development, evaluation, and improvement of assigned English language programmes or courses, including materials, assessment tools, administrative systems and related services, in order to meet partners’ and learners’ needs by actively working as a member of the academic team.

• Plan, prepare and deliver up to 18 (15+3) hours of high-quality English language teaching per week that meets learner needs, taking into account individual learning requirements and preferences in line with Teaching Skills Level 3, and being ready to provide cover as required.

• Monitor learner progress and provide regular feedback to help manage students’ performance throughout the course, and actively promote learner autonomy.

• Complete teaching-related administrative tasks to specified standards; join in school events and parents’ evenings.

What we offer

Salary
The successful candidate’s starting point within the pay scales below is set according to their qualifications and experience as well as their previous position on the British Council’s global salary scale (if applicable). 
     min: THB 86,380 per month 
     max: THB 102,242 per month

What we want

Essential qualifications: undergraduate university degree or equivalent; Trinity DipTESOL or Cambridge DELTA (or equivalent) or PGCE/B.Ed (in relevant subject).
Necessary experience: at least four years’ full-time post-certificate (i.e. Trinity CertTESOL / CELTA) teaching experience including a minimum of 1,200 hours gained from teaching one or more of these Young Learner age groups: 3 to 5 years; 6 to 11 years; 12 to 18 years.
