The English director manages the English teachers and oversees the program. He/she is the face of the program, so professionalism, superb customer service, and a positive attitude are essential. It is a position of power: the director has a huge impact on the school's quality of program, offerings, and policies. The director also influences directly the English teachers, providing them both professional and personal support.

About us

We are an English and Spanish language school in Liberia, Costa Rica. We currently have about 450 English students, 12 English teachers (all North American, TEFL certified, university graduates), and 3 Spanish teachers. We are active in our community and believe strongly in the importance of volunteering. Our classes are small, and we use the communicative method. Our program is organized and effective.

What we offer

The director works approximately 40 hours a week and receives a salary of 700.000 colones per month, two private Spanish classes per week, housing in a furnished place in walking distance from the school, full health insurance, 14 days of paid vacation per year, and the Costa Rican "aguinaldo", which is a Christmas bonus.

What we want

Masters degree and TEFL certification;
C2 level of English: If the applicant is not from an English speaking country, he/she must take a proficiency exam, either here at Estelar or at INA or UNA;
B2 level of Spanish (minimum): If the applicant is not from a Spanish speaking country, he/she must take a proficiency exam, either here at Estelar or at INA or UNA; 
Minimum of 2 years teaching experience, preferably teaching ESL; 
Minimum 60 wpm typing and advanced computer skills for using Word, Excel (using formulas), modifying our website, emailing, and creating images/tables: the applicant will take a typing test as well as demonstrate computer skills; 
Fully understands social media and willing to use it effectively to promote our program (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Google+, Twitter); 
Excellent writing abilities in English: the applicant must submit a writing sample; 
Excellent ability to teach English as a second language: the applicant must show evidence of this through answering well our interview questions about teaching methodology, and submitting a portfolio, video, lesson plan, student evaluations, etc. 
Must be able to effectively train teachers and offer ongoing support to teachers on a professional and personal level; 
Excellent ability to communicate assertively, positively, and respectfully in both written and oral mediums. Must work well with others and be culturally sensitive and highly professional;
Excellent customer service skills and marketing initiative to grow the program; 
Strong ability to lead with compassion and firmness; 
Strong ability to work well under pressure; 
Must be highly organized, creative, innovative, flexible, and enthusiastic. Must have a can-do attitude; 
Must be able to commit to at least one year in this position.
